Something new has started at MMG.

We recently hosted our first ABACUS Awards, a team-led celebration created to recognise the people who bring our values to life every single day.

The ABACUS Awards are about more than just certificates and claps. They are a reflection of who we are and how we want to work together.

They were designed to pause the pace for a moment and say what often goes unsaid. That hard work matters. That people notice. And that values are not just something we talk about, they are something we live.

What are the ABACUS Awards?

The name says a lot. Like an abacus, this is about the people behind the numbers. The award categories are grounded in MMG’s core values. Each category is based on a trait we look for and celebrate in each other. Whether it is adapting to change, lifting the team with positivity or simply doing the right thing, these awards aim to highlight the qualities that make MMG more than just a place to work.

What makes the programme even more meaningful is that all nominations come from colleagues. Every shortlisted nominee was put forward by someone who has seen their impact up close. That’s what gives the awards real meaning.

What’s next?

This was our first year, but it will not be our last. The response from the team has been fantastic and we are already thinking about how to make next year’s awards even more memorable.
